Everything you NEVER thought you'd care about.

  • The plastic strip and firm tape around the battery compartment makes that area 0.020" to o.o25" in thinckness.
  • All iBooks from DualUSB onward will benefit from Battery Reset 1.1 or Battery Reset 2.x

Let's talk about the DC-in boards. (This may apply to both 12" and 14" models.)

a) I've worked on THREE "won't boot" iBooks with DC-in board 820-1235-B.

       - If the charge lamp won't come on, or if the system will only boot from battery, REPLACE THE 820-1235!

       - 820-1235 has a soldered-on connection to its cable. (You cannot easly separate the two.)

       - Some may light the power adapter ORANGE. (But never green.)

       - replaement with a 820-1444-A always fixes the problem.

b) Ive worked on ONE 12" iBook with an original DC-in board 820-1444-A

       - it has an eight-pin connector, with separate cable.

       - it works fine, and lights the same power adapter GREEN

       - even if the battery is dead, the power adapter will first light green, then go to orange during the charge period.

c) I've seen ONE 14" iBook (700 MHz) with a 820-1358 DC-in board.

        - this board has a soldered-on cable.

        - it works just fine.
